Founded by Elaine Midgley in February 1993, Gammid has progressed from a one branch family business based in Johannesburg, to a national entity, with additional branches in Cape Town, George and Kwazulu Natal. In April 2007, Argent Industrial Ltd, a JSE listed company, acquired 100% shares of Gammid. All the Gammid branches now trade as Argent Steel Group Ltd T/A as Gammid. As an established stockist and distributor of Aluminium and Stainless Steel, Gammid provides an integrated service to the industrial and engineering markets, specialising in the supply of aluminium and stainless steel in sheets, plates, coils, extruded sections and semi-fabricated products.
