Scope

The instrument conforms to the standards of ASTM D613, ISO 5165 and so on. It can determine the cetane number of diesel oil and biodiesel. This product is suitable for the determination of the ignition property of sample diesel oil and the known hexadecane (A mixture of hexadecane and heptamethyl nonane in a certain volume ratio). The specific method is to change the engine cylinder compression ratio in order to obtain a definite ignition delay time, that is, the time interval between the start of fuel injection and the start of combustion (ignition). This time interval is fixed at 20°(in terms of the generator crank angle) for either the sample or the standard fuel during combustion, but the compression ratio required for the different fuels to burn is different, that is, at the end of the stroke, the temperature and pressure are different. The determination of the ignition lag time in the same way is based on the compression ratio gas meter readings of the samples selected for two standard fuels of not more than five cetane units. When the compression ratio of the sample is between the gauge readings of the two standard fuels, the cetane number of the sample is calculated by interpolation using the symbol ××. × / CN.
