Schedule 40 Stainless Steel Pipe is a category of stainless steel pipes used in piping of various applications. The applications vary such as air, oil, water and natural gas applications. There are various grades of stainless steel used to produce the sch40 pipes. The Schedule 40 SS 304 pipe is the most commonly used grade of pipe for its cost effectiveness. The material is strong with 215MPa minimum yield strength and 505MPa minimum tensile strength it has general corrosion resistance and good operating temperatures. But some applications need more corrosion resistant materials. The SS 316L Schedule 40 Pipe is more corrosion resistant than the 304 grade pipes.

It is particularly corrosion resistant to the chloride ion corrosion stress cracking. The material also has lower carbon levels which makes it ideal for welding and reduces the localized corrosion. The pipes should be under 10 inches. The 1 inch Schedule 40 Stainless Steel Pipe is used with smaller size pipe lines. The specification for these pipes is the ASTM 312 and there are pipes of 1ft and longer sizes. The dimensions are covered by ASME B36.19 standards. The SS 316L Schedule 40 Pipe has different classes as well and the most used is the class 150, a medium pressure class. Depending on the material, application and the pipe size the Seamless pipe schedule 40 is used in a variety of shapes as well. There are round pipes, square pipes and rectangular pipes. There are also welded pipes and ERW pipes. The dimensions such as the 1/2 schedule 40 SS pipe vary according to the application need as well. Most of these pipes are used in transmission lines but structural applications are also available. Please feel free to contact us for more information on the SS 316L schedule 40 pipe and the pricing
